INTERIOR DESIGN**

Ruby's Southern Comfort Kitchen is a legacy hospitality brand that creates southern comfort soul food in Bowie, Maryland. All of their heirloom recipes make their food absolutely delectable. They came to us in need of a full rebrand, and interior design. We are their go-to for all things creative to this day!

Logo + Identity Design 

We wanted the new Ruby's logo to feel elegant, evoking the feeling of a southern lady. We used a bumble bee as the icon since bees symbolize diligence, community, sweetness, and spiritual connection, rooted  folklore, and African American traditions, representing hard work, family, nature's bounty (honey), and even ancestral guidance, linking them to prosperity, female strength, and natural wisdom. 

ART DIRECTION + BRAND STORYTELLING

We needed to do a styled shoot that made you feel like you were eating a feast at Grandmother's house, on a whimsical Sunday afternoon. We wanted full on family vibes.  We needed these images for the website, socials, and digital menus on the POS system. We love the idea of multi-use content!

WEBSITE DESIGN

The client wanted to use WIX, so we created a simple responsive site for them.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The client moved from a small building into a 5,000 sq. ft. former Pier One Imports in Bowie, and we got to design the interiors for them. (Under our SUGARHAUS brand.) We used local artists to make the walls pop, and brought in the brand colors, as well as custom hand drawn fabric patterns.

ILLUSTRATION + MURAL DESIGN

We covered one of the walls with an illustration that features the matriarch of the family surrounded by her sons, to whom she passed her recipes. Today, Ruby's is run by her grand daughter.  The motto of the brand is "Hey, Cousins". You absolutely feel like family when you step into Ruby's.

EVENT PLANNING + DESIGN

Ruby's, under their Potomac Hospitality catering brand, hosts an annual event called "Fried Chicken and Champagne". We curate the theme and design each year, and in 2025, the theme was "Juke Joint". It is a luxury al-fresco dining experience, and we have a great time working with our favorite people to bring this to life.
